Welcome to the Cottage Park Yacht Club’s “Traveling Burgee” Contest
The Cottage Park Yacht Club’s Traveling Burgee Contest is a community engagement initiative that connects CPYC members with each other, both near and far. This informal contest encourages us at CPYC to get out into the world and gives us an opportunity for our members who might not otherwise have access or time to “see” where we’ve (collectively) gone.
How to Participate in the CPYC Traveling Burgee Contest
The guidelines are simple:
- Any member of the CPYC can join the contest.
- Take a picture with your CPYC burgee in front of an interesting background (e.g., at a reciprocating club, on vacation). Burgee should be held up right so the photo reads it “left to right.”
- Send your photo along with your name and travel story to the Windjammer.
- Winner for farthest traveling burgee gets… bragging rights!
The Impact of the CPYC Traveling Burgee Contest
The impact of this initiative on the community is clear. As a result of this contest, people who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to frequent the clubhouse are able to learn about other members. The contest has also helped create a sense of community among members by providing shared, yet unique, experiences.
