RULES AND REGULATIONS
- All slip occupants vacating their slips for more than three days must notify the Wharfinger that their slips will be vacant. Individuals vacating their slips without notification may be fined for the lost rental revenue. Floaters have priority concerning open assigned slips. If you are not in a slip and see one vacant, contact the Wharfinger.
- The Wharfinger must have a way to contact floaters and renters when the marina needs to be vacated or the slip owner returns ahead of schedule. If you are a floater or renter and plan on being away, you should either vacate the slip or have a designee ready to move your boat We must know how to contact your designee.
- All slip renters and floaters must have their own lines and fenders. They may not alter in any way the set-up of the slips they temporarily occupy.
- Boat owners must remember to affix the town of Winthrop waterway fee/excise tax and state registration stickers to their boats to avoid fines from the Harbormaster.
- Also affix CPYC stickers to your boats. Launch service will only be given to properly stickered vessels.
- An electric utility fee is due, whether or not the occupant plugs into a power stanchion, if the vessel has a dockside power inlet/receptacle or equivalent hook-up.
- Any boat and/or trailer that is left on Club premises that is either unauthorized or is not a paid and registered, stickered vessel/trailer with the Club shall be subject to a $60/day fine.
INSURANCE
All members keeping their boats/vessels at CPYC must have proper insurance coverage. All boats at CPYC must have no less than $300,000 liability coverage, as stated in the MF Rules and Regulations, unless otherwise approved by the Marine Facilities Committee (MFC).
Sailing vessels with or without auxiliary power and under twenty-six feet in length are often covered by an individual’s homeowner’s or apartment renter’s policy. This would include Stars, Rhodes, Snipes, Thistles, Opti’s, N-10’s, etc. Motorboats of twenty-five horsepower or less may also covered in the same manner. It is also possible for non-marine policies to be endorsed to cover larger boats. In all cases, please be sure to check that you are insured either through your homeowner’s policy or separate marine insurance policy and that you have ample physical loss and liability coverage and limits and that you are properly protected. It is highly recommended to annually check your policy for adequate coverage, both liability and hull. If you do not have a separate marine policy with liability coverage, we must have a copy of the non-marine policy’s declaration page or the watercraft liability endorsement.
Before any individual sails or motor a boat of any type from the Cottage Park Yacht Club, they must provide the Treasurer with a copy of the cover page or declaration page of a valid insurance policy (marine policy, homeowners, or renter’s policy). Individuals that fail to provide their insurance documentation will not be issued their boat stickers and will not be allowed use of the marine facilities. This requirement also extends to those who use the facilities in the off-season (e.g., frost-biters).
- A completed Marine Facilities Application/Form and Certificate of Insurance must be submitted to the Secretary by April 1st. New applicants need to also submit proof of ownership, and a copy of applicable State or Coast Guard registration.
- All CPYC boaters are required to read, attest, and agree to the Marine Facilities Rules and Regulations on the Marine Facilities Application/Form. They may be found on the Club’s Website https://cpyc.org/marine-rules-regulations/
- Welcome to the CPYC boating community. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Josh Castellano, Secretary (CPYC Secretary@cpyc.org) for Application or CPYC boat registration process matters or Dave Aloise, MFC Co-Chair (daaloise@comcast.net) for general and Rules and Regulation matters. Please report any concerning issues you observe to any member of the Marine Facilities Committee (see Marine Facilities Contact List on CPYC.org).
- Have a safe and happy boating season! Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
