left thursday.

  • drove through tstorm in ct.
  • slept in my car in western pa.
  • woke up friday morning, and kept driving.....
  • drove through ohio. just missed a nasty thunderstorm. went just to the north of me. got some hail and wind though. fun watching the dark clouds and flickering sky getting further and further behind me.
  • stopped and got a hotel room between st louis and springfield friday night. had a personal pan pizza (about the size of a quarter) for dinner.... shower felt great!
  • woke up saturday and drove through the rest of missouri. on the rolling hills of missouri, saw fields of cows & , horses.... also saw a field of trailers. as far as the eye can see. field of boat trailers. must've been a mile of them.
  • as soon as i crossed the border of oklahoma, a tumbleweed blew across the road.
  • got to northern texas. in the old movies, you would se e fields of oil pumps. here, saw fields and fields and fields of cell towers. very flat in texas.
  • between missouri and arizona, didnt get any verizon digital coverage.
  • crossed the border of new mexico at about 10 saturday night, and slept 10 hours in a truckstop.
  • woke up sunday morning, and drove through to western arizona. great mountains. really fun drive. pretty good time. little traffic.
  • stopped about 2pm with about 5 hours of the x-c trip to go. didn't want to get to cal yacht club sunday night. chilled. got good food, had a beer. went to see austin powers (don't rush out to see it). good shower, and comfortable bed.
  • woke up monday and drove to LA. reached cal yacht club at about 11. boat was a mess. water wasn't working at the hoist on monday. rigged the mast. staying on a friends cal 30 on the other side of marina del rey (.5 mile from cal yacht club)
  • washed and waxed the boat yesterday. had lunch with andy in santa monica.

listened to a ton of cd's on the trip. also listened to Tim Berners Lee (real inventor of the internet?) book on tape.

listened to Anne Rand's Fountainhead on tape. chewed up lots of hours listening to that one. enjoyed it, but most of the philosophy was over my head.

    listened to sox/rangers, mets/diamondbacks, dodgers/phils games.

fun drive. enjoyed it so much, i'll think do it again at the end of this month. boat, car and driver all survived the trip.

have crew for this weekend. looking for crew for the thursday night races tomorrow.

    going to dodgers/phils game friday.

working today, tomorrow and friday, and then most of next week. just sitting in an office with a phone and an internet connection, and mostly communicating with people that are supposed to be in the LA offices but arent.... doesn't matter to me. that's the power of the internet, right?

    regatta starts the 18th.

    ron flies out the 16th.

    kelly's coming out the 20th http://www.starworlds2002.com
