Screw the 20-30 knot weather forecast, and the 20 knot winds allegedly at logan at 4:00. Got to the club at 5:15 and it was barely above 10. Ended up being a BEAUTIFUL night for racing.
Three boats, two quick races. NNW 8-12. First race started near deer island, up to one of the winthrop channel markers, and back (pretty good Windward Leeward). Fox & Kemp lead off the start, but hit the right corner really hard. Braverman and Duckworth played the middle left, and Larson and Carlson played the left pretty hard. Braverman and Fox were fighting the outgoing tide to the mark, and Larson and Carlson lead around. They lead Braverman and Duckworth all the way to the finish, but attempted to round the mark to port instead of finishing to starboard....
The second race started at the same line, and finished at Nun 2 by the club. Fox and Kemp again lead off the start, and covered Braverman and Duckworth pretty tightly (tack for tack) up the middle. Larson hit hard left again, in the shallows by the airport pier and the runway to escape the tide, and win the race.
Two new crews, fun time was had by all. 3-way tie for first. Larson/Carlson win the tiebreaker, and outlasted the rest of the sailors in the bar.
Nice way to start our Wednesday night series. You asked for it, you got it, where are you?????
Thanks JoeZ, Peter, Jim and others for the two quick races..
