Summer Star Sailing is right around the corner. Get those boats ready!!!!
Been a busy winter for the fleet. Our monthly outings included, Border Café, Rainforest Café, Jevelis, Amhreins, and bowling at CPYC, with lots of the regulars, and plenty of guests. We also have more fleet members sailing interclubs at CPYC this year, and others have been spotted racing the radio controlled boats. There were also plenty of BH Star sailors spotted enjoying the Miami weather at the Masters, Bacardi Cup, and other regattas.
Welcome to the Executive Board
I'd like to welcome Jessica Costa and Sergey Leonidov to the Boston Harbor Star Fleet Executive Board. Jessica is our new Fleet Secretary and Treasurer. She has taken on the tasks of communicating with the central office, researching and maintaining our fleet history, and handling our finances. She is also undertaken the huge task of Chairperson for the Atlantic Coast Masters regatta in August.
Sergey is the Assistant Fleet Captain. Serge will continue his work getting more people excited about star boats, and getting more of our boats out on the water. He is also creating a database of names, numbers and e-mail addresses of people itching to get into a star boat, whether to try it out for a quick sail, or whether to crew. Serge is also chairing our Open House, and Skipper's choice regattas in May, and a fall Octoberfest regatta. Please help Serge in any way possible, getting him names of interested parties for his database, taking people sailing (Serge already has a large available crew list), and lending your support for our May Fleet Building events.
Again, I'd like to thank Ken Woods for his 5+ years of service to the fleet as Secretary, Fleet Captain, and sometimes both.

New Members
We'd all like to extend a welcome to new Star owner Dennis Unger, with crew Bob Chadwick from West Newbury, Mass, and John Fox, formerly with the Rockport fleet, from Wareham. John is also our first district Webmaster.
And NOT so New Members (it wouldn't be nice to call him an OLD member, would it?)
And welcome back Joe Zambella. Not only does Joe have a boat this year, but he can really flex his political muscle as the Star Class North American Vice-President.
On a Sad Note:
As you probably know, Marshall Brown, 1st district sailor out of Milford, and a longtime friend to many of us, and the fleet, passed on in January. Big thanks to many of our fleet members, for showing support to Dionne, and Marshall's extended star family in January, and at his memorial April 1st. Thanks to Jessica for sending cards and flowers from the fleet!
Fleet Development
Open houses are Saturday May 20th and Tuesday evening June 6th. Our third Annual Skipper's choice regatta is May 28th. Please get your boats down to the club and lend your enthusiasm and star sailing experience for these events! See enclosed flyers and contact Serge for more details.
Racing
We have a full weekend racing schedule planned, and new for 2000, we have Wednesday night racing. Will also have some larger regattas at CPYC with the advent of the BeanPot trophy with Rockport (a two-regatta Team Race Series which combines scores from the Make-A-Wish and Ned Hay), and the Atlantic Coast Masters. Districts Champs in Milford in July. See attached Schedules for exact dates.
Wednesday Night Star Racing
You asked, for it, you got it. Chance to expose our club (PHRF sailors), our friends, and all the boats on the harbor to what Star sailing is all about. Great racing, and fleet building/development opportunity!!! More detailed info in the enclosed Sailing Instructions. Be sure to Check out the SIs for the Wednesday night participation provision for the Fleet Qualification Series.
Sailing Instructions
The sailing instructions take the unwritten rules we've been sailing with for the last few years, and put them on paper. They are nearly identical to last year's, and nothing should be a surprise. We will again be enforcing the STCR 31.1.3 (weight rule), but not as rigorously as last year. But, please make sure you and your crew conform. See 2000 Star log and web site for more details on the rule.
Racing Course Charts will be handed out on the first day of racing, and will be available from the Race Committee thereafter.
